Area 13 - Electric Bikes that are out of this world.

Ebike Commuting Costs | EP 109

Posted by on

Hello Everybody! And welcome back to another podcast episode. You may have noticed if you've been looking on social media, the news, or perhaps just the signs at your local gas station. The gas prices are really high, especially here in California. That got me thinking along with some people that have dropped by, where basically, the motivation to come look at ebikes was the fact that they just went to the gas station and.

A lot of money to fill up their tank, but it got me motivated to decide and kind of take a closer look at it. Because this is something that I haven't done in a while now. But let’s see, what is the return on investment? What's the ROI If you buy an ebike and commute VS driving. And I think the results might surprise you.

This is the Area 13 Ebikes Podcast.

In today’s episode you’ll learn more about:

  • What are the average gas prices as of today within California and what is the national average?
  • What does an ebike cost daily for a commute compared to using a car?
  • Overall, what do maintenance costs look like for both options?
  • What are some things you can do to save money as the prices for gas keep going up beyond changing the mode of transportation?
  • How can you invest in ebikes in the future? Check out the link in our show notes for Area 13 Ebikes.
  • And so much more!

  • This is an excellent topic. I live close to work and have been commuting some on an analogue bike, but learned that the office is moving farther away and have been looking into ebikes. While I appreciate your approach, I’m afraid you misrepresented what is covered by the IRS mileage number which I believe includes an allowance for both gas and depreciation (you said you were excluding the cost of the car). I’d be interested in any revised numbers you get.

  • Kyle,
This is a brilliant laying out of the incentives of going eBike. And I’ve been trying to get this point across to my followers here on Cape Ann in Massachusetts for a good year or two. With an appropriate preamble adjusting expectations for the coastal Massachusetts model (we have great commuer rail, and most eBikers would actually commute to a station, but still, were talking about 10 miles avg), I can use you ample fact finding by providing the podcast link . And who knows, maybe it’ll steer you a few new customers. Anyway, thanks, this is awesome.
